Soundwaves Concert, Wednesday the 15th of August, HMAS Cerberus.
A Review.
The band returns from a stint to Hong Kong and excels.
After a slight hiccup last month (Cancelled Concert) the Band returned with a great nights entertainment. The house wasn't full (Lousy weather) but were warmed to a feast of musical styles. No vocalist for this gig but we were offered a Brass Quintet and a Woodwind Trio that featured some fantastic pieces. The theme for the night was flight and as the program below highlights there were some memorable arrangements played.
The Band definitely earned their wages as it was a long full on blow. A quick observation, the Association is not the only band to draw from the other services. The Melbourne detachment had three RAAF bandsmen fill the vacant chairs on the night and you also have to feel for the 1st (Solo) Clarinettist as he was it, and playing those running passages in Star Wars is hell, well done.
