SOUNDS FROM THE SEA.

Massed bands Of The Royal Australian Navy. 1965 but needs clarification.
Conducted By LTCDR George Hooker, A.M.B, L.R.A.M, A.M.U.A, R.A.N.
Original Album from Jim Hawkins.

The cover art see's the Massed bands at the War Memorial, Hyde Park, Sydney and side 1 follows the traditional marches with the Drum Corps carrying the beat between marches. Side two displays the versatility of the band with lively toe-tapping tunes that are indicative of the Navy's modern outlook in regard to music (Taken from the cover notes). There are some great standards that the band constantly pulled out of the library for many years after this recording, Night Flight to Madrid and Riders in the Sky Just to name a few.
Interesting to note that the same record was renamed "On The Quarter Deck" No 2 (for our history purposes) by EMI, but the date is to be confirmed when.
